Xiuwen: Yangming Cultural Stage Play "The Bandit's Conscience" Enters Rehearsal Stage

Recently, the Yangming cultural stage play "The Bandit's Conscience," co-created by Xiuwen Yangming Academy and Xiuwen Botanical Park, entered its rehearsal stage.

Creation Background

To advance the creative transformation and innovative development of Yangming culture, and to enrich the forms and vehicles of the Yangming culture transformation project, the Xiuwen Yangming Academy and Xiuwen Botanical Park launched the creation and rehearsal of this special Yangming cultural stage play in July this year, bringing traditional Yangming culture out of the classics, into the lives of the people, and into grassroots community education.

Highlights of the Play

Adapted from the historical anecdote of Wang Yangming reforming a bandit through moral influence, the play revolves around his conviction that "even bandits possess conscience." Through vivid stage performance, it recreates the historical scene and demonstrates Wang Yangming's broad-mindedness and wisdom in educating and transforming people through virtue—offering an intuitive, accessible interpretation of the essence of "extending innate knowledge" (zhi liang zhi).
